Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune, a village on steep ground sloping down to the canal, is distinguished by its remarkable roofs (town hall, church, manor houses, former farm and wine buildings) and the predominance of tiled roofs, a legacy of its former tile works and a source of local pride.
The roof, a fundamental shelter, here inspires an elementary and educational architecture. The structure remains visible, allowing children to discover the basics of construction and to be introduced to the shared world: the dining hall connects visually with the pedestrian mall and the large windows with the surrounding nature, encouraging socialisation and familiarity with public space.
The flexible spaces (dining hall, entrance hall, toilets) can host other uses, making the building a multipurpose facility serving the community.
